Write What You See – Descriptive Writing

Task descriptive: Today i finished my warm up. For this task I had to write what I see in the box below the picture then insert that writing in to Adobe Express AI and try to get as close to the picture and you can and the easiest one were slide 1 and 5 and the hardest one is slide 4.

Day 1 Inquiry T4 2024

 Last week on the 14th of October everyone was at school including me and after watching Immersion Assembly we were making paper planes because team 4’s movie was about instructions on how to make paper planes so we made paper planes. When I was younger I tried making paper planes and they have turned out great in the past but I didn’t realise that there were different types of planes. 

 

The first thing that Miss Parrant said is to get 4 pieces of paper because we would be making 4 paper planes and she said to use it wisely and to try and not make mistakes. Miss Parant put us into pairs and I was with YiYi, YiYi and I went to go and get the paper and one of us had to get our chromebook so I got mine so I could have instructions on the screen to help me make the planes. I made dart and hunter and YiYi made Raven and buzz.

 

After everyone making their planes Miss Parrant asked to bring all 4 of our planes as well as our maths book and a pencil or pen, we brought  our maths book so we could see how far we got then write it in our maths book but before we went outside we had to wait for the other class to be finished using it so we could go after them. While we were waiting Miss Parrant told us some rules and after she told us the rules the other class was finished so it was our time to go outside.

 

The first 3 people that were up was Emzjull, Meki and Filipo, the planes the went the furthest was Mekis plane then when they were finished it was my groups turn  and two other groups when she said go I tried to make it go as far as I can but it didn’t go very well the first one was 3.8 and the other groups made it go further so we got the lowest one but the next round I wanted to try a different technique to see if it was go further and it kinda worked it was further than the other one but still not very far so when the next round was up I wanted to try throw harder to see if it would go further but it made it worse it was 0.8 but sadly that was the last round. After I went the other teams went and they did way better and I was a little bit sad that it didn’t go very far.

 

Even though it didn’t go far and even though we got the lowest one I still had very fun making the planes with my friends and trying them out to see how far it got. The most fun part was  when I got to make  it and the hardest part was to make it go very far. I chose to build Dart and Hunter because it was the first two and we said we were each going to make two paper planes each, and I wanted easy ones because the other ones looked kinda hard. Also YiYi wanted to do those ones so I just went with Dart and Hunter. If I could do it again I would throw the plane calmly and try to throw it straight. What I learnt from this experience was that to not throw hard when throwing a plane outside because the wind will try to make it come back.

 

   

Recount: Immersion Assembly

 On Monday the 14th of October everyone came back to school for term 4 and we were still watching Assembly from our classrooms on the projector and the theme for this term is May The Force Be With You. When assembly started 2 of the school prefects did the karakia and Mihi and they were Eleni and blessing after that we got started on seeing all of the teams to show what each team are doing this term movies and first was SMT which is the senior management team.

 For SMT’s movie they did the forces of nature and how we turn them into energy. Mr Jacobsen created a voice over for their movie, he showed and explained  how it works and he said that nature can be beautiful at times but it also can be messy and that’s where in the movie the earthquakes and tornados start to show. 

Team one did a fairy tale the three little pigs and they were doing pushing or pulling and huff and puff anymore because of covid and Mrs Lal was one of the pigs and Mrs Shirley was one of them too also Mrs dwyer  and Mrs Hockley was the big bad wolf. All the pigs went to build a house, one of the houses was built out of straw, the next was built out of sticks then the last out was built out of bricks. The wolf was only able to pull or push 2 of the houses and couldn’t pull or push the brick house.

 Team 2 learnt how to use marbles. They learnt that lighter marbles go faster and heavier marbles go slower. They also created their own ramp for their marbles. They used teamwork to create the ramp and slide down their marbles. They transferred one ramp to another. 

Team 3 lip synced and acted to a song about simple machines that can be used in our everyday life. These simple machines can make our everyday chores easier for us in life.

Team 4 importance of writing is to clearly write instructions for better results. They made a film showing how to make paper planes and how different types of writing can affect the results. The instructions would get better and better in the film. This shows that if the instructions are clear and written with details it has better results.

Team 5 used sound waves and vibrations using elastic bands and a guitar to experiment. They showed how to use different objects and make different sound waves and noises. Doing anything can make a vibration and sound waves.

My opinion on all of the movies is that they were very good and my favourite out of all of them is team 5 because theirs was very funny and they were dancing to a funny song. And this topic for this term is okay.

Task description: Today I finished my essay writing. For this task i had to write an essay and we got to choose what we wanted to write about and I chose “Why Did Dress To Impress Remove Some items In The Game” I had to write and introduction, Body paragraph 1, Body paragraph 2 and Body paragraph 3.
