Narrative (Empathy)

 This week we have been learning about the word EMPATHY

We must learn how to show empathy to other people.

 

For your writing task this week, you will write a story (narrative) in which your main character must show empathy towards another character.

 

Maybe they need to show empathy because;

  • A character is feeling upset (negative emotions)
  • A character is being misunderstood by other people.
  • A character isn’t being themselves and doing wrong things

 

Think about the ways that your character could help them.

 

Begin writing here: A way that I would help him if they were feeling upset is the first thing I would do is give them some water to calm them down and after they got water I would ask what happened that made them upset and make them go outside for some air and for them to calm down the when it’s all over I would give them a hug.

If a character is being misunderstood by other people a way that I would help him/her first give them some water and ask what was wrong and think about how I could help him and make him/her feel better and some ways are give them some space for them to think about things after that I would offer them a hug.

If someone wasn’t being themself and being bad I would go up to to them and say what there doing is bad and say what there doing is going to get them in trouble and if they say they don’t care but after they get in trouble I would say to them I told you so.

 

This Weeks Learning

Task Description: This week Room 8 literacy learned about how we can use empathy and how we can improve Team 4 using it it and what Im about to show you is my work I did this week. The work I did was about Empathy and Emotion and ways I could help a person I they are feeling this way. I hope you like it remember to leave a positive comment bye bye.

Recount: Immersion Assembly

Yesterday we had an immersion rotation and the first rotation we had was with miss tuia and what we did for her rotation is we had to complete some slides and find songs on youtube that make us feel that emotion.

 

For Miss parrants rotation we did bus stop and freeze frame. What we did first was we had to complete a task called bus stop . There is gonna be a picture and we have to describe it then every two minutes we rotate to a different table and it just keeps repeating until we go to every table. After that we did freeze frame. What we had to do for freeze frame is miss parrant, read us a book called goldilocks and the three bears. After she read us the book we had to get in groups of five and go outside to pretend that we were the goldilocks and three bears then Miss Parrant came out with her phone to take pictures of some parts from the story. 

 

For room 8 we did emotion train and what we did first was he told us the task that we had to do for his rotation and after he told all that we played a game where where have to line up from shortest to tallest and the person at the front will act out a emotion and we have to copy it at the end we have to guess what emotion the person did and it just keep on repeating. 

 

For room 9’s rotation we did a task called He said/ She said and for the task we had to record a video of us saying UPTHEWAHS or supercalifragilisticexpialidocious which is the longest word in the dictionary and we had to say that in each emotion like Angery, happy, Sad and so on also i’m not really a sports fan so i just said  supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and that what we did for Room 9 Mrs Sio rotation.

 

For Room 10  we did colours. So what I mean by that is we had to write about how we feel about each colour and we had to take pictures of how we felt then write what emotion we were feeling.

 

Metaphors And Simile

Task Description: This week I am learning about Metaphors and similes. Today I finished my task about metaphors and similes today and what I had to do is Mr Hughes gave us a sentence and we have to figure out if its a metaphor or a simile and after we finish out about that we have to under line the thing or person what its being compared to.
